Le nom

Asian Road, the road to Asia

The name says the project: a road crossing South-East Asia and bringing back, at every stage, what people eat there in the street. Not a country, not a flag — a journey.

De là vient le slogan, la route des saveurs, et la façon dont la carte est construite : on ne choisit pas un plat, on compose son étape.

What you live

Five minuteswith us

The restaurant fits into a handful of square metres and an open counter. Here's what happens when you push the door.

  1. The lit shopfront seen from the pavement opposite, at night
    21:00

    You walk past

The yellow sign catches your eye down the street. Behind the glass, things move and it smells of wok.

  2. The room seen from the entrance: red lanterns, neon, wooden counter
    21:01

    You push the door

Red neon, lanterns, bare brick. It's warm, it's loud — the noise of a night market, not of a dining room.

  3. A hand pointing at the menu above the counter
    21:02

    You choose

One base, one flavour. No endless menu, no trick questions. You point, we write it down, off it goes.

  4. The wok in full flame, noodles and vegetables in the air
    21:03

    The wok fires up

The kitchen is open, you see everything. The flame rises, so does the steam. That's when the three minutes start.

  5. A hand carrying the closed kraft box away, the wet street behind
    21:05

    You leave

The box is closed, still burning hot, under your arm. Six or seven seats for those who stay — the others are already outside.

And the road goes on.

L'inventaire

What we brought back

Not whole recipes: ingredients, gestures, a way of doing things. Here is what each stage left on the menu.

  • Fresh herbs

Mint, coriander and lemongrass thrown in at the last second.

    Vietnam
  • Caramel

Sweet, salty and peppery, catching in the wok and glazing the meat.

    Cambodia
  • Sticky rice

Steamed, eaten with your fingers, sweetened with coconut milk.

    Laos
  • Fried onions

Crisp, scattered over the fried rice just before the box is closed.

    Indonesia
  • Wok noodles

The blend: wheat, rice, glass — fried hard and fast.

    Malaysia
  • The gesture

Assemble in front of the customer, close the box, hand it over. Three minutes.

Le service

The mama behind the kitchen

You walk into the restaurant, you see the mama just behind the kitchen, you order on the spot and it's already there.

That's the image Anthony gives of the place he wants to open, and it is the whole project: an open kitchen, a quick gesture, no ceremony. You don't settle in, you pass through.

The woks are already hot, the bases ready. The only wait is the assembly itself — three minutes.
