Let's be clear

Indonesia, the fourth stop — not the only one

Asian Road isn't an Indonesian restaurant. It's Southeast Asian street food with no fixed country, borrowing from five cuisines — Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia — what each does best.

After Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, the road runs through Indonesia. It's stop 04: the stop of the smoking wok. A street cuisine played over a high flame, on night carts that serve in three minutes — exactly Asian Road's promise.

What we brought back

What Indonesia left on the road

Not a copied recipe: a gesture and a texture, slipped into a menu that mixes the stops.

  • Fried rice

Tossed hard in the wok, over the flame, with egg: it's the school of the night carts, which cook fast and hot.

    Indonesia
  • Fried onions

Crispy, thrown over the fried rice just before the box is closed.

  • The Garden Fried Rice

The base that comes straight from it: “Wok-fried rice with crunchy vegetables.”

Indonesian style

The flame rises,the rice jumps

A bit of buzz outside, the kitchen in sight, and a wok smoking right before your eyes: the spirit of Southeast Asia's night markets, Aix edition.

    You pick your base

Five bases readable at a glance at the counter. For the Indonesia stop, go for the Garden Fried Rice — then the flavour of your choice.

    The wok catches fire

Everything goes through the wok, over a high flame, in the steam and the lantern light. That's where the rice gets its smoky taste.

    The box leaves with you

About three minutes, and the box is in your bag: at the office, on a bench in town or back home.
