From Mazarin to the old town

A street food stop for Mazarin's neighbours

The Mazarin quarter is 17th-century Aix, calm and orderly, south of the Cours Mirabeau. Asian Road is the stop waiting on the other side: Southeast Asian street food with no fixed country, inspired by Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia and Malaysia.

You'll find it at 9 rue Laurent Fauchier, in the old town, right behind the courthouses. No booking, no tablecloths: you walk in, you see the kitchen, you order at the counter, and it's already there.

Why cross the Cours

Three reasons to go from Mazarin to Asian Road

The quarter is elegant and quiet; people live, work and stay there. For a quick, fragrant break, the road carries on across the Cours.

The break

From Mazarin to the boxwithout wasting time

The spirit of Southeast Asia's night markets, brought to the lanes of Aix: a bit of buzz outside, the wok in sight, and an order that shows up before you've had time to wait.

  1. A cook tossing noodles in a wok over a high flame

The wok, over a high flame

Noodles, fried rice, flavours: everything goes through the wok, right in front of you. That's what gives Asian street food its taste of fire.

  2. A box of steaming Asian noodles with meat, spring onions and sesame seeds
    02

The box, eat in or carry away

One base and one flavour brought together in a box you can eat at the counter or take back to the squares and fountains of the Mazarin quarter.

  3. A kraft takeaway bag held in front of an Asian restaurant lit by red lanterns

To take away, on the road

Only a few seats: Asian Road is built for express service and takeaway. Drop by, choose, and head back across the Cours.
